Slip and fall accidents have the capacity to turn your life completely upside-down. Most victims struggle to get the justice they deserve because they don’t know what to do after the mishap. They consider consulting friends and family.

That’s right! There are other important things you should or shouldn’t do after a slip and fall accident whether at a store, on a walkway, sidewalk, roadway, a friend’s house, or anywhere.

According to the attorneys associated with law firms providing slip and fall accident legal help on long island, the wrong actions could be used to prevent you from getting justice.

What You Shouldn’t Do:

  • Don’t Give Statements:

You must remain calm in an accident situation and reduce your communication with the property owner or manager or any insurance carrier, no matter who is at fault in your opinion. They could use your statements in court in their own favor.

  • Avoid Posting Accident Details on Social Media Platforms:

Social media platforms are open to everyone. Anyone can see your accident details and leak them. The owner of the property where you slipped and got injured can access them easily and use them to their advantage.

  • Don’t Apologize or Place Blame:

The slip and fall accident law firms in Nassau County advise you not to apologize after the accident. You should not blame anyone for your slip and fall incident. This could weaken your case significantly in the long run.

  • Don’t Call your Insurance Company Immediately:

Talk to your attorney first before giving a statement about your slip and fall accident to your insurance company. Their priority is to safeguard their interests in such cases. They aren’t concerned about your physical condition or financial interests. Your statement could be used by your insurance company in a way that might not help you. Therefore, don’t take this step unless your attorney asks you.

You have no choice but to swallow this bitter pill of truth to get the justice you deserve in a slip and fall case.
