Motor Vehicle Accident

Motor vehicle accidents often result in the untimely deaths of victims. Tuesday morning brought the curtain down on another life in one such horrible tragedy.

Details of the accident:

The deceased, a 52-year-old man, appeared to be fleeing a hit and run. He was fatally struck by a dump truck. The dump truck did not stop after hitting the victim in the Bronx on Tuesday.

The deceased was discovered at Country Club Road and MacDonough Place in Pelham Bay near 5 a.m. in the morning.

Prior to this, the deceased had sideswiped another vehicle in a minor crash. This crash happened on McLean Avenue. He did not stop, instead fleeing the scene, prompting the other driver involved in the crash to chase him.

How did it happen?

According to police, the victim was heading south on the Bronx River Parkway. This is when it is believed he realized three tires of his car were damaged because of the crash.

Therefore, he saw no choice but to pull over on interstate 95 using the Bruckner Boulevard Service Road. He exited his vehicle and tried to flee on foot. This is when a dump truck struck him. He simply ran in front of the truck, got hit and died instantly.

The police are now hunting for the dump truck involved in this accident, which, ironically, did not stop. The Bruckner Road exit ramp from Interstate 95 has been closed by police to investigate this accident.

Derailed Motor Vehicle Accident

Many people lose their lives because of motor vehicle accidents in the US every year. Most of these mishaps happen on road. However, at times, such mishaps involve trains as well. One such accident has occurred on the tracks of the Long Island railroad.

The whole story of this deadly motor vehicle accident:

This deadly accident happened around 7:30 p.m. near the Westbury Station on Tuesday. According to officials, a passenger vehicle was approaching a warning gate at the tracks. The driver decided to drive around the gate and proceeded to collide with a commuter train that was bound for Manhattan.

Suddenly, another train coming from the opposite direction also struck the vehicle. According to Mr. Patrick Ryder, Nassau County Police Chief, the passenger vehicle was trying to beat the warning gate and the train was running at full speed at the time of the collision.

The impact of the collision was so powerful that one of the trains involved in this motor vehicle accident was derailed, struck the station and demolished at least 30 yards of concrete.

“The passenger vehicle was pushed towards the second moving train by the impact of the collision with the first train,” said Mr. Phillip Eng, The President of LIRR (Long Island Railroad). According to him, the warning gate and lights were fully functional.

Any Casualty?

This fatal motor vehicle accident has resulted in at least three deaths as well. The identities of all three casualties have not been revealed by authorities so far.

Deadly car crash

Even slight negligence while driving can prove to be fatal. This reality proved true in Long Island during a police chase Saturday night, resulting in multiple injuries and fatalities.

The details of the accident:

According to authorities, the car involved in the accident was stolen. The mishap occurred at about 11:50 p.m. on Route 25 near Birchwood Park Drive in Middle Island.

Police from Suffolk County reported an officer saw a Nissan Rogue failing to stop at a stop sign. The car was also being driven recklessly on Main Street in Yaphank. The car itself had been reported stolen on Thursday from Montauk Highway in East Patchogue. The driver of the car was identified as a teen named Nahriek Belford, 17.

The police officer tried to stop the car; however, the driver chose to flee. This is when the officer started chasing the car and called for the backup, say the police.

The accident resulted when the stolen Nissan struck a Honda CRV turning left on to Birchwood Park Drive, as the Nissan sped west on Route 25.

What about the casualties and injuries?

The accident claimed three lives. One of the victims is Nahriek Belford’s own brother, Angelo Belford, 16, who was riding in the Nissan. The other two people who died in this crash are Jerry Weingarten, 72, and Randee Weingarten, 71; the couple was in the CRV. All three victims died at the scene.

Two passengers in the Nissan suffered serious, but non-life threatening injuries, in this crash. Both of them were immediately rushed to Stony Brook University Hospital for treatment.

What else?

The police have impounded both vehicles for a safety check. Nahriek Belford has been charged by the police with one count of reckless endangerment. These charges are expected to be upgraded by the police. Since it was a single officer in the chase, Suffolk County police have initiated investigations to see if pursuit protocols were followed or not.

The detectives are requesting anybody who is an eye-witness to this fatal motor vehicle accident to please contact them.
