There are many parts involved in a real estate transaction. Here is a list of the aspects of a basic real estate transaction: REAL ESTATE TRANSACTION OVERVIEW*

  1. Owner lists property for sell with a real estate Broker/FSBO.
  2. A Buyer makes an acceptable offer.
  3. Buyer hires engineer/inspector.
  4. Seller’s attorney drafts the initial contract of sale.
  5. Seller’s attorney and Buyer’s attorney negotiate the contract terms.
  6. Buyer’s attorney meets with his client(s) for the “contract signing.”
  7. Executed contract and Down payment are forwarded to Seller’s attorney.
  8. Buyer receives an executed copy of the contract to obtain a loan (“commitment letter”).
  9. A title search & survey are conducted.
  10. A closing date is set.
  11. Parties meet to close the transaction.
