This accident resulted in the death of a Guyanese biker named Devendra ‘Joey’ Deonarine of 30 years. Formerly, a resident of Bloomfield Village, Corentyne Berbice.
His friend, Christopher Sansarran, 23, has also suffered serious injuries in this motor vehicle accident in Queens. Christopher was the pillion rider on Devendra’s motorbike. The deceased is survived by his wife and one child.
How did it happen?
This accident happened on Monday evening in Queens, New York when the men were traveling on a 1986 Honda motorcycle. According to police reports, they were traveling westbound on Liberty Avenue towards 157th Street.
Their motorcycle slammed into a sanitation truck at high speed, said the police. The truck involved in this motor vehicle accident was backing up at the time of the accident.
Both men were ejected from the motorcycle and badly injured. Both men were rushed to Jamaica Hospital where Deonarine was declared dead on arrival by doctors.
As for Sansarran, he is still in the hospital, in stable but critical condition.
