Construction site accident

Construction site accidents happen suddenly. The impact of such mishaps are hard to describe with words. One such mishap, in Manhattan’s Upper East Side, has happened recently.

More details about the accident:

This construction site accident happened in Manhattan’s Upper East Side on Wednesday night. Actually, a concrete slab came crashing down suddenly from a 30-story, under-construction condo at 1059 Third Avenue. The debris that fell entered a nearby, six-story apartment building, through the roof. The location of the affected apartment is East 63rd Street and Third Avenue.

Anybody injured?

A man reported suffering minor personal injuries because of the 6-inch thick concrete slab that came crashing down on him. The incident occurred when he was taking a shower shortly before 9 p.m.

According to Steven Jones, 34, a resident and the eyewitness, he was in inside his studio apartment at that time. He suddenly heard a loud, explosion-like sound. He immediately came out of his washroom only to see a cloud of thick, black dust and a huge hole in his ceiling. According to Jones, if he would have been in his kitchen, he would have died in this construction site accident.

The debris blocked his front door completely, as well as the fire escape. Firefighters managed to mount the fire escape and access a window to get to Jones and dig him out of the building. The debris only inflicted damage to one floor of the building. The rest of the building’s structure is strong, says the department of buildings.

Officials have now fully inspected the building under construction on Thursday. They have issued a full stop work order. They have decided to take further enforcement actions once the ongoing investigation is completed.  Keep coming back to our website to get any latest news related to this construction site accident.
