Motor vehicle accidents result in injuries and untimely deaths. One such tragedy has occurred in Long Island City where a bicycle rider lost his life in a collision with a car.

The details of the Accident:

The deceased has been identified as Robert Spencer, 53. He was riding his bicycle when he was fatally struck by a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze on Borden Avenue in the Hunter’s Point neighborhood. This fatal motor vehicle accident happened just before 8 a.m. on Thursday morning.

The Chevy Cruze involved in this accident was heading south on Second Street at the time of the accident. It was being driven by a 51-year-old woman. She remained at the scene after the accident but was not charged by police.

The cause of the accident:

According to police, Spencer was crossing at the red light when he was hit. Unfortunately, New York Police Department’s Press Office could not confirm this. Instead, the cause of this accident is being investigated, according to the NYPD Press office.

Spencer lost his life in the accident, just a few blocks away from his residence.
