A Construction Worker Killed At Brooklyn Work Site

Construction workers always work in challenging conditions. Their lives are always at risk due to the nature of the jobs they do on a daily basis. The injuries construction workers often face are catastrophic and life changing, with the capacity to kill them prematurely. One such tragic incident occurred in Brooklyn when the life a construction worker was cut-short by a fatal construction site accident.

Where did this happen?

According to sources, this tragedy happened just before noon in Bedford-Stuyvesant. The location of the construction site is near the corner of Myrtle and Marcy Avenues.

Cause of Accident?

The police investigated the accident and found that falling material was responsible for this fatal accident. Over Paredes, 44, who hailed from Newark, was hit by a falling object during on-going work at the site.

Emergency help wasn’t enough.

Emergency response crews arrived quickly and Over was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull. While the response and transport were quick, he succumbed to the injuries he suffered, and died shortly after.

What Else?

The DOB (Department of Buildings) is conducting an investigation of the worksite.
